Star Over Orlando’s “CBS Sports 810” WRSO Orlovista/Orlando, FL is adding the syndicated Bubba The Love Sponge for mornings and an FM signal on Monday, May 5.
The move returns Bubba to the Orlando market after a previous run on the now defunct “96 Rock” 96.5 WHTQ from January 2009 through August 2011. The station is directly targeting Clear Channel Hot Talk “Real Radio 104.1” WTKS morning show “Monsters In The Morning” billing Bubba as their “Destroyer”.

The addition of Bubba The Love Sponge comes as WRSO signs on 93.1 W226BT Orlando to rebroadcast the signal. The 99 watts signal will cover the city of Orlando and surrounding areas (Coverage Map).
WRSO is one of four Sports stations in the Orlando market along with Cox “ESPN 580” WDBO, Clear Channel’s “740 The Game” WYGM, and Genesis’ “Sports Talk 1080” WHOO.
hot talk works in florida for some reason and that probably is thanks to bubba. i think in time it may catch on, but it would have to be a syndication driven format. as for this specific station, i think in such a crowded market, they can go after the hot talk audience with a more “active rockish” presentation.

The only thing WRSO is going to destroy is themselves (as if they haven't been doing that all along). They will be pushing their FM translator like crazy and forget about their AM. Do they think that a 99 watt translator has a chance against a 94.000 watt flamethrower? Not to mention Bubba's show has failed here twice before on two different stations.
WRSO is now airing the most recent episodes of Bubba’s show.
