Update 5/15: Summit Media has named Greg Reed as Vice-President/General Manager of their Birmingham stations filling part of the duties held by David DuBose.
Reed was the longtime GM of Beasley’s Miami stations and at one time co-owner of what was then known as Beasley-Reed Broadcasting. In August 2013, Reed agreed to acquire six stations in the Pittsfield, MA market but the agreement was withdrawn before closing.
Original Report 5/14: David DuBose has exited his position as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Summit Media.
DuBose was instrumental in the construction of Summit Media as the then Market Manager of Cox Birmingham partnered with CEO Carl Parmer to acquire the Birmingham, Greenville, Honolulu, Louisville, and Richmond clusters from Cox in early 2013.
AllAccess reports that staffers were notified today of DuBose’ exit, while The Birmingham News says that it has been unable to reach DuBose or anybody at Summit for comment the past two days. Dubose has served as Market Manager of that Birmingham cluster since 1996 when it was owned by Cecil Heftel and Carl Parmer’s H&P Radio.
There were reports in March that Summit Media was close to an imminent announcement to acquire South Central Media’s ten stations in Evansville, Knoxville, and Nashville for $74.6 million. That announcement has never come.
