A pair of long-established California morning shows have renewed their contracts to remain at their current stations.
In San Diego, Dave Rickards, Shelley Dunn and Cookie “Chainsaw” Randolph have agreed to remain at Midwest TV’s Hot AC “100.7 Jack-FM” KFMB-FM for four more years. “The DSC” joined KFMB-FM in 2010 after an 18 year run at Clear Channel’s KIOZ.
Up in Sacramento, Rob, Arnie and Dawn will remain with Entercom’s “98 Rock” 98.5 KRXQ for five more years after a flirtation with Clear Channel that led to legal actions by Entercom.
After agreeing to terms with Clear Channel to move the show to an undisclosed station in Sacramento, Entercom filed suit requesting a temporary restraining order claiming that show owner Williams Broadcasting (headed by host Rob Williams) did not give Entercom the right to match any offer made as contractually obligated. The judge ruled in Williams’ favor on Monday morning, but quickly led to a new deal with Entercom. Among the points of the deal offered by Clear Channel that Entercom had to match were a $775,000 per-year base deal, satellite fees, a custom digital channel, and expanded syndication. Clear Channel intended to add the show to stations in Seattle and Riverside-San Bernardino.
Rob, Arnie and Dawn are currently syndicated to stations in Merced, and Redding, CA and Reno, NV.
