CBS Country “Y107.9” WDSY Pittsburgh APD/MD/Afternoon Host Stoney Richards has announced he will step down as of September 10 to dedicate more time to his acting career.
Richards has been with WDSY for the past eighteen years, but will remain with the station for guest appearances and with sister News/Talk 1020 KDKA on his weekend “Live From The Centre”. Richards has a long acting resume dating back to the 1980s and includes appearances in such projects as Predator 2, Three Men And A Little Lady, and most recently in 2013’s Out Of The Furnace.
The following CBS memo was sent to us making the announcement:
Some of you may be aware that Stoney Richards has enjoyed acting over past several years, and has appeared on both the big and small screens from time to time.
After spending 46 years in radio, Stoney has made the decision to exit from his daily afternoon radio show, and devote more time to his acting passion.
While Stoney’s daily presence and afternoon shows will be missed on WDSY, we’re happy that his relationship with our CBS RADIO Pittsburgh family won’t come to an end, as Stoney will continue hosting his “Live From The Centre” weekend talk show on KDKA, and will serve as a recurring guest host on WDSY.
Stoney has been a great programming partner and strong brand ambassador for Y108 during his nearly 18 years with the station and 21 years with our organization.
He has earned a tremendous amount of admiration and respect from listeners, the country music recording industry, and by his peers in radio.
His final afternoon show on WDSY will be September 10th.
The station has launched a search for a new Y108 Assistant Program Director/Music Director/Afternoon On-air Personality. Internal candidates may review the qualifications and apply at cbsandyou.com; external candidates may do the same at cbsradio.com/careers
Thanks, Stoney, for all that you have done for WDSY… and all that you will do for us in the future!
