Clear Channel Classic Rock 104.5 KZEP San Antonio has moved its format to 93.3 K227BH San Antonio replacing the simulcast of Classic Country “92.5 K-Buc” KRPT Devine.
With KZEP off of 104.5, Clear Channel has launched Rhythmic CHR “Hot 104.5“. Branded as “Today’s Rhythm and All the Best Throwbacks”, the station is launching with 10,000 songs in a row. The format consists of a mix of currents and Urban gold dating back to the 1990s.
KZEP registered a 2.4 share in the just released July 2014 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings. The new format positions the station up against Univision’s “98.5 The Beat” KBBT, which is currently tied for the market lead. Clear Channel last attempted to attack KBBT on 105.7 K289BN until January of this year when the station flipped from Rhythmic CHR “Wild 105.7” to Regional Mexican.
R.I.P. K-Zep. The 93-3 translator is nothing compared to the full power 104-5. Guess the cork’s been popped at Cox Radio S.A. Great news for X 106-7 and 99-5 KISS.
Only thing Cox has to do now is change the format of either KTKX or KISS. One, just one is fine with classic rock.
I guess KBuc is losing most of it’s listenership in SA, too.
Well, it looks like Clear Channel isn’t giving up on taking out KBBT, and this time they found a perfect signal to do it on.
