FCC Applications 1/4: Big Austin Upgrade
Emmis Alternative “101X” 101.5 KROX-FM Buda/Austin, TX has applied to make a significant upgrade to its signal. KROX-FM seeks to increase from a Class C2 with 12.5kW at 258.1 meters to a C1 with 86kW at 320 meters from the tower of sister 103.5 KBPA San Marcos (Coverage Map). From the new location KROX-FM’s 60dbu signal will reach into parts of San Antonio.
While still awaiting its license after its CP was set to expire in September, Hispanic Target Media now seeks to increase 102.9 KHMQ King City, CA to 6kW at 17 meters (Coverage Map). The group had filed for two STA’s to remain silence that were dismissed by the FCC following Informal Objections from King City Communications stating that the station did not in fact build its facility before the CP expired on 9/21.
Caldwell Media Classic Rock “107.3 Earl-FM” KERL Cotton Plant, AR seeks to increase from a Class A with 6kW at 100 meters to a C3 with a power increase to 14kW (Coverage Map).
With much of its coverage area over water, Peninsula Communications AAA “103.5 K-Wave” KWVV-FM Homer, AK proposes to downgrade from a Class C with 100kW at 351 meters to a C1 with 25kW (Coverage Map) due to increased power rates in the remote Alaska region.
Sacred Heart Radio’s 88.1 KYTR Union Gap, WA applies to move closer to Yakima with 52 watts at 87.4 meters (Coverage Map).
University of Northwestern-St. Paul applies to relocate its CP for 106.5 W293CK Clearwater, FL to 106.9 from a new location in St. Petersburg. W293CK will operate with 250 watts at 165 meters rebroadcasting Beasley’s 98.7 WHFS-FM Holmes Beach (Coverage Map).
Kevin Fitzgerald’s 106.5 W293BW Schnecksville, PA applies to relocate to Allentown with 250 watts at -2 meters rebroadcasting 90.3 WLHI Schnecksville (Coverage Map).
