Greater Media Sports “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN Burlington, NJ/Philadelphia is expanding its head-to-head format battle with CBS’ 94.1 WIP to mornings for the first time.
Anthony Gargano, who worked at WIP for 15 years prior to his exit at the end of 2014, debuted today as morning host at WPEN. Gargano will be joined by midday host Jon Marks and update anchor Maureen Williams and producer Jamie Lynch. The show replaces ESPN’s Mike & Mike who relocate to Beasley’s 610 WTEL. The move gives WPEN a local morning show to compete against WIP for the first time since 2008 when both stations were heard exclusively on AM.
With Marks moving to mornings, Harry Mayes & Eytan Shander will take over middays from 10am to 2pm and Joe DeCamara nights from 6-10pm. Mike Missanelli will remain in afternoons from 2-6pm.
Greater Media’s 97.5 The Fanatic has unveiled a brand new local Morning Show featuring sports radio veteran Anthony Gargano. The new show, entitled “Anthony Gargano in the Morning” will start Monday, April 20th and air from 6AM to 10AM. It will be co-hosted by Jon Marks and feature Sports Update Anchor Maureen Williams and Producer Jamie Lynch.
Anthony Gargano has been a Philadelphia Sports Talk staple for over 15 years. He began his radio career with 610AM, has hosted programming for FOX Sports Radio in Los Angeles, and was a contributor for local FOX 29 television.
Anthony has written four books, including the NFL Unplugged: The Brutal, Brilliant World of Professional Football. He also co-developed the story for the feature film The Mighty Macs, based on the story of 1971 Immaculata College team that won the first women’s championship.He began his career as a journalist for the Associated Press in Chicago, the New York Post and Philadelphia Inquirer.
