Chunky In At 98.7 The Bull; Many Others Exit Alpha Portland
A fairly significant on-air turnover has taken place at Alpha Media’s Portland, OR cluster.
Incoming to mornings at Country “98.7 The Bull” KUPL is former “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM Philadelphia morning host Chunky. With much of his previous experience in CHR, Chunky or “Big Boy” as he was formerly known also
worked at “Kiss 95.1” WNKS Charlotte, “Channel 95.5” WKQI Detroit, “92.3 Now” WNOW-FM New York, and “Z90” XHTZ San Diego. He will join incumbents Jake Byron and McKinzie Roth on “The Morning Bull Ride” starting May 11.
Missing from that show is Howie Drummond who was one of a few Alpha Media Portland staffers to be let go last week. Night host Matt Sparx also departs KUPL. At sister AAA 101.9 KINK, Program Director/Night Host Brad Dolbeer and Morning Co-Host Dan Merchant are among the reported exits.
Alpha Media Portland, OR announced today, Chunky will join the 98.7 The Bull Morning Bull Ride weekdays 5a-10a starting May 11th.
Originally from North Carolina, Chunky started his radio career in Charlotte doing nights at Kiss 95.1. From there, he transitioned to mornings in Boise and later had a successful run at nights in Detroit at Channel 955. Chunky also has extensive major market experience in NYC, San Diego and most recently hosting mornings at CBS’ Wired 96.5 in Philadelphia.
