Midwest Communications Rock “95.7 The X” Update 3:00pm: And Midwest has wasted little time as WVRX has made the flip to Classic Country “95.7 Duke-FM“.
Original Report 2:55pm: WVRX Maryville/Knoxville, TN has dismissed its entire airstaff and is preparing to change formats.
Exiting the station are PD/Afternoon Host Mike “Hurricane Shane” Schoenherr, middayer Scott Bohannon, night host John “Fister” Wilson, and the syndicated Free Beer & Hot Wings morning show. All signs indicate a flip to Classic Country as the next Midwest station to be branded as “Duke FM“. Midwest registered TheDukeFM.com last month.
The current WVRX website has been replaced with a note stating “Thank you for listening and for supporting The X. It’s been a great ride!”
WVRX would become the fourth Country signal in the Knoxville market. Cumulus’ 107.7 WIVK is the dominant station in the market with a 17.1 share in the Winter 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings. Scripps’ “Q100.3” WCYQ was seventh in the market with a 3.4 share and M&M Broadcasting’s “96.7 Merle-FM” WMYL had a 1.5. WVRX garnered a 3.3 share in what will now be its final book.
