Radio Disney has sold 1310 KMKY Oakland, CA to Radio Mirchi, Inc. for $600,000.
Radio Mirchi President Sukhdev Dhillon and CEO Charanjit Batth are involved in groups buying stations across California. They own “Radio Punjab” 620 KIGS Hanford as New Media Broadcasting. Their Spice Radio Inc. is in the process of acquiring 1210 KEBR Rocklin/Sacramento and 1210 KQEQ Fowler/Fresno. Dhillon is a member of the Board of Mountain View Public Broadcasting, which is buying 87.9 KSFH Mountain View/San Jose.
KMKY operates with 5kW fulltime. The facility is best known for its long run as KDIA when it was the Bay Area’s R&B/Soul station. Disney acquired the station in 1998 for $6.25 million.
hmmmm….that sale amounts to ten cents on the dollar for the Mouse. YIKES!
New Media also owns Variety Hits KWLE 1340 AM Anacortes, WA and KRPA 1110 AM Oak Harbor, WA.
Nope. That’s “New Age Media” owned by different people. They may be associated, but the buyers of KMKY do not have any stake in KWLE or KRPA.
