WOLF will run the national Fox Sports Radio lineup around the clock.
In Knoxville, Hodges Media has announced it will flip Regional Mexican “La Raza 1340” WKGN to “Fox Sports 1340” when it closes on the $225,000 acquisition it announced in April.
WKGN will air the GoVols247.com produced morning show from 7-10am and a local 5-7pm show hosted by Tom Poisal. The rest of the lineup will feature Fox Sports programming including Dan Patrick from 10am-12pm, Rich Eisen from 12-3pm, and Jay Mohr from 3-5pm and the final hour on delay from 7-8pm.
Knoxville sports fans will hear a new sound on local sports talk radio starting this football season. WKGN-AM 1340 is being purchased to broadcast FOX Sports Radio Knoxville with a full lineup of local and national programming centered on University of Tennessee sports, the Southeastern Conference and current events from around the sports world.
Headlining the local lineup will be The Nate Hodges Show in partnership with GoVols247.com, a blended format from trusted sources who cover the Vols on a daily basis. Nate Hodges and executive producer Brad Matthews will broadcast weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. with Tennessee insider Ryan Callahan of GoVols247 co-hosting the final hour of the show.
“I’m excited to join FOX Sports Radio Knoxville and bring its listeners some of the insight, information and analysis that have made GoVols247 the fastest-growing subscription website devoted to University of Tennessee athletics,” Callahan said. “Listeners in the Knoxville area love discussing Tennessee sports and we plan to offer a unique level of insight that will entertain and engage even the most avid UT fans.”
Added Hodges, “FOX Sports Radio Knoxville will bring entertaining, dynamic radio personalities to the airwaves who are also UT, SEC, local and national sports experts. We’re extremely excited about partnering with GoVols247 to bring Knoxville fans the type of sports radio they deserve.”
Callahan said radio will serve as an extension of GoVols247, which covers Tennessee football, basketball, and recruiting as part of the 247Sports network. The station will also feature Wes Rucker along with other 247Sports writers and analysts as regular guests.
“I believe the future is bright for FOX Sports Radio Knoxville, and the partnership will give us another way of interacting with our readers and an opportunity to reach an even larger audience,” Callahan said.
The Tom Poisal Show will anchor the local afternoon drive-time slot, on weekdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with an opinionated quick-hitting style that will focus on football and current sports topics. Ryan Cahak, a former Tennessee assistant basketball coach, will host “Orange Splash” midweek and contribute to local weekend programming.
FOX Sports Radio Knoxville will also feature The Dan Patrick Show from 10 a.m. to noon, The Rich Eisen Show from noon to 3 p.m. and Jay Mohr Sports from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of its national weekday programming. Local college and NFL pregame shows will air on Saturdays (10 a.m. to noon), and Sundays (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), along with national FOX Sports Radio.
As long as so many hosts are willing to broker out sports talk shows around here. UT is a huge program, but enough talk fodder for 365 days a year?
