WNTN proposes to operate with 750 watts daytime and 3 watts nights, a drop from its current 10kW daytime signal. However the move would place the station much closer to its targeted Boston audience. Newsweb Liberal Talk 820 WCPT Willow Springs/Chicago proposes making its auxiliary antenna its primary. The antenna, which is diplexed with sister Brokered Ethnic 1240 WSBC Chicago, will enable WCPT to increase daytime power from 5kW to 5.8kW, while retaining its 1.5kW nighttime power. At both locations WCPT utilizes 1 tower in its daytime coverage and 6 at night. Lotus Radio's 1180 KCKQ Sparks/Reno, NV applies to increase its nighttime power from 190 to 600 watts while retaining its existing 4kW daytime power. An application originally made in 1986 and amended in 2004 for a new AM signal on 890 in South Tucson, AZ is now dead. Michael Glinter's proposal was rejected in April by the Mexican government due to interference it would cause to 890 XENVA2 Canamea, MX. He was given thirty days to modify the application to resolve the interference, however no reply was sent.
FM Moves
In June 1TV.com's 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool, AZ applied to upgrade from a Class C3 all the way to a Class C via a shift to 96.5. An amendment filed this week will stifle the ability of the station to serve as a defacto Phoenix rimshot. KIKO-FM instead seeks to upgrade to a Class C2 with 670 watts at 1013 meters (Coverage Map). To make the move possible KIKO-FM proposes that Petracom Hot AC “96.5 The Storm” KRFM Show Low moves to 106.9, while WSK Family Trust's "iTalk 106.7" KNKI moves to 98.5. The original proposal only requested KRFM to move to 98.5. Kemp Communication's 99.3 KEMP Payson, AZ modified a dismissed application from 2010 and was swiftly granted a CP to upgrade from a Class C3 to a Class C2 with 50kw at 147 meters (Coverage Map). The original application specified a higher antenna height. Another piece of the massive Docket 05-243 Salt Lake City area frequency shift comes into place.
