Langley Speedway’s Speedway Media Group is acquiring 1490 WXTG Hampton/Norfolk, VA from Davis Media for an undisclosed price.
WXTG, which most recently had been simulcasting soon-to-be former sister AAA “102.1 The Tide” WXTG-FM Virginia Beach, flipped to a Classic Country/Racing mix on August 1 as Speedway Media Group began operating it via LMA. The new “1490 The Outlaw” is resurrecting a previous identity and format used by the station. Chuck Hall was GM of then 1490 WLRT prior to its sale to Red Zebra Broadcasting in July 2007 and is now the GM of Langley Speedway and the revived “Outlaw“.
WXTG is carrying the syndicated Imus In The Morning and a local Saturday afternoon program from the speedway. The station will also carry programming from Motor Racing Network, Performance Racing Network, some local high school sports, and continue as the local affiliate for Washington Redskins football.
