Midwest Family Broadcasting completed its restructuring of its Springfield, IL cluster this morning with the launch of Country “US 92.7” WUSW.
Anchoring the station are Brian Pierce and Kellie Michaels in mornings from 6-9am. The couple exited 101.3 KFDI Wichita earlier this summer to return home to Springfield to be closer to family. Michaels will also serve as Program Director and 9am-12pm host. Ashley Blake will host 12-4pm and Brad Allen from 4-9pm.
The move places WUSW in competition with Neuhoff Media’s 104.5 WFMB and Saga’s “101.9 The Wolf” WLFZ for the Country audience in Springfield.
Original Report 8/24: Midwest Family Broadcasting has begun restructuring its Springfield, IL cluster as Rock 92.7 WQLZ Taylorville has begun simulcasting on 97.7 WLCE Petersburg.
The move replaces AAA “Alice 97.7“, whose brand will be kept alive as a webcaster. WQLZ is promoting that it will no longer be heard on 92.7 as of Friday, September 4. As we reported on our July 31 Daily Domains, an anonymous registration of 927USCountry.com and the parking of the WUSW call letters at 1670 in Madison, WI portend to 92.7 becoming the third Country outlet in the Springfield market when all the dust settles.
WQLZ’s move to 97.7 will also come with a new morning show as Wes Styles and Kaytie will move from afternoons starting Monday, August 31. The music-intensive “3rd String Morning Show” will replace the syndicated Free Beer & Hot Wings from 6-9am.
