In a deal not yet publicly announced, but told to employees, Zimmer will be acquiring Meyer Communications cluster in Springfield as Zimmer has registered domains for new brands across Meyer's Springfield portfolio. For Red Dirt Country "101.3 The Outlaw" KTXR, Zimmer has registered 1013BearCountry.com and 1013RealCountry.com. For what is now Sports "Jock 98.7" KWTO-FM, Zimmer has registered 987TheDove.com. The branding matches the Soft AC format owned by IRIS Media's 98.3 KDVC Columbia MO, which shares some services with Zimmer's larger cluster there including its domains being owned by Zimmer. The "Jock" will remain, although moving to what is now Standards 1060 KBFL/96.9 K245CA as Zimmer registered 969TheJock.com and 969Jock.com. The domains do not indicate the status of 99.9 KBFL-FM Buffalo MO which also carries the Standards format. For News/Talk 560 KWTO, Zimmer registered 933KWTO.com to emphasize the station's translator frequency. This deal appears to have been in the works for years as both KBFL and KWTO's translators were purchased for the stations by Zimmer Radio in 2015 and moved to Springfield during the 250 mile waiver period. Donald and John Zimmer's Zimmer Radio currently owns stations in Columbia and Jefferson City. Zimmer Radio co-owner John Zimmer has his own Zimmer Communications cluster in Joplin MO, while their brother Jerome owns Great Plains Media with stations in Bloomington IL, Clarksville TN, and Lawrence KS. Current owner Ken Meyer has owned KTXR since 1962 and grew his company to eventually include television stations across the central US and radio properties throughout Missouri before consolidating his operations into just Springfield.
