W291BA Baltimore made the flip from CBS programmed “New Country 106.1” to Radio-One operated Gospel “Praise 106.1” today.
The translator is still being fed by CBS’ 101.9 WLIF-HD2, which in turn could lead to future machinations between the two companies and Hope Christian Church of Marlton, NJ who owns W291BA and a number of other translators in the Baltimore area including two future move-ins that are both currently licensed to rebroadcast Radio-One stations.
Original Report 4/9: Radio-One will assume operations of 106.1 W291BA Baltimore and launch Gospel “Praise 106.1” on the translator.
W291BA is owned by Hope Christian Church of Marlton, NJ and is operated by CBS as “New Country 106.1” rebroadcasting 101.9 WLIF-HD2. As first reported by DCRTV.com, an internal Radio-One memo states, “Starting May 1st. Radio One will have a new FM radio station in Baltimore. Praise 106.1 featuring Yolanda Adams in the morning will be a uplifting spiritual format targeting women [aged] 35-64. We will doing a ton of TV commercials to get the word out that Praise 106.1 is here.”
