Lakes Media is getting ready to launch its second FM Translator fed by AM in Danville, VA.
The company has purchased 970 WVOV from Danville Christian Radio for $50,000. The station operates with 1000 watts daytime and 54 watts nighttime, but Lakes is more interested in it is accompanying FM translator. 103.7 W279AO is currently licensed with 1 watt, but has an application to jump to the translator maximum of 250 watts and will fully cover Danville.
Accompanying the sale and upgrade will be a flip from Southern Gospel to CHR. Amp1037FM.com was registered by the company last week. So far all “Amp” branded stations in the United States are owned by CBS, which does have a trademark on the “Amp Radio” moniker. We’re unsure if that the Amp moniker alone is fair game. If anyone familiar with trademark law can fill us in, please do so in the comments.
Lakes Media also operates 1580 WWDN/104.5 W282BH which operates as Classic Hits “104.5 The Dan” in Danville.
