When Henson Media completes the move-in of the former 97.7 WWKY Providence KY to Sebree, where it will rimshot Evansville, it will return ESPN Radio programming to the market.
Now sporting WREF call letters, the station will be branded as “ESPN 97.7 The Ref” when it signs-on from its new location in early June. The station will rimshot Evansville from the south with 6kW/96m.
The Henderson KY Gleaner reports that WREF will carry Matt Jones’ Kentucky Sports Radio from 9-11am and add a local program from 5-6pm will be added. All other programming will come from the ESPN Radio national lineup. Play-by-play will include St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
The Evansville market has been without ESPN Radio programming since Townsquare Media flipped 105.3 WJLT to AC in December 2016.
