Shamrock Communications is selling Alternative 104.1 KRZQ Fallon/Reno NV to John Burkavage’s Big Horn Media for $200,000. Burkavage was the previous General Manager of Shamrock’s Reno cluster until retiring in 2015. He also spent a decade with Entercom as the Market Manager of its Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Greenville/Spartanburg clusters. He is currently operating the station via LMA, while Shamrock retains its other three FMs in the Reno market.
After going silent rather than converting its satellite dish, Continental Broadcasting Corp. of Arizona sells 1480 KPHX Phoenix to Cedar Cove Broadcasting for $100,000.
In the Atlanta suburbs, Multicultural Broadcasting sells Brokered Caribbean 1430 WGFS Covington GA to Light Media Holdings for $50,000.
Jon Yinger’s Christian Broadcasting System sells Talk 1250 WLRT Nicholasville/Louisville KY to New Albany Broadcasting Company for $175,000. New Albany, which owns Regional Mexican simulcast “Poder” 1570 WLRS New Albany IN and 1600 WLUE Eminence KY and two translators in the Louisville market will begin to operate WLRT via Time Brokerage Agreement on August 1.
Coates Consulting and Lewis County Press are splitting Cherokeean Herald KTLU LLC with Coates gaining Classic Hits 1580 KTLU and 103.9 K280CL Rusk/Jacksonville TX while Lewis County Press gains the weekly newspaper. Coates will pay $25,000 for the stations where it will join East Texas Results Media’s pending purchase of four stations in the Tyler/Jacksonville market in which Paul Coates is a partner.
Jam Broadcasting purchases Radiodog Media’s Country “103.7 The Buck” KAXA Mountain Home/Kerrville TX for $112,500.
Carroll Enterprises will purchase 106.1 WHST Tawas City MI from Northern Christian Radio for $175,000. WHST will join a three station cluster including Classic Hits 103.3 WQLB Tawas City (simulcast on 94.9 WKJZ Hillman), Country 104.7 WKJC Tawas City and Talk 1480 WIOS Tawas City.
Fjarli Broadcasting donates 1400 KFJL/103.9 K280GM Central Point OR to Go And Tell Inc. Seller Jo Ann Fjarli will hold a 33% stake in the recipient and the station will continue carrying programming from 3 Angels Broadcasting Network.
Air-Free Wireless acquires Country 1340 KTMP Heber City UT from Creek Broadcasting Corporation for $125,000.
Roberto Cubero is increasing his ownership stake in Super W Media Group’s Regional Mexican 1280 WIPC Lake Wales FL from 49% to 100% in exchange for allowing 35% owner Carl Cuchaj to sell his property at the studio and transmitter site. Cubero will also gain Bonnie Karp’s 16% stake in the deal.
Cascade Educational Broadcasting Service acquires Community “X-Ray FM” 91.1 KXRY Portland OR from Common Frequency Inc. for $16,000.
Centro Cristiano de Vida Eterna sells 91.1 KNLY New Waverly TX to Northwood Hispanic Communication Center for $200,000.
Translator Sales
Rowan College at Burlington County sells 100.7 W264BH Mount Holly NJ to Spectrum Development Group for $125,000. The buyer is led by former Cumulus Media CFO Richard Bonick and Marathon Media head Chris Devine. The translator also applies to modify its facilities to move towards Philadelphia rebroadcasting Connoisseur Media CHR 94.5 WPST Trenton.
Riviera Broadcasting sells Silent 101.9 K270BZ Phoenix AZ to Farmworker Educational Radio Network for $1.1 million to rebroadcast Regional Mexican “La Campesina” 860 KNAI Phoenix. While K270BZ went silent due to causing interference to Globecasting Country “Gila 101.9” KQSS Miami AZ, the translator’s new application seeks to remove the previous directional antenna in favor of a non-directional one.
Davis Broadcasting of Atlanta purchases 101.1 W266BW Winder/Atlanta GA from Youngers Colorado Broadcasting for $400,000. W266BW will rebroadcast 1310 WPBC Decatur once Davis closes on its pending acquisition of that station.
Midwest Communications will acquire 107.3 W297AX Knoxville TN from Dwight Magnuson for $75,000. The translator will rebroadcast Midwest’s 97.5 WJXB-HD2.
Refuge Media Group sells 91.7 W291DT North Branch MN to Marantha Assembly of God Church for $50,000 to rebroadcast Christian AC “88.1 The Remnant” WAJC Newport.
Grace Public Radio buys 100.1 K261CR Chickasha OK from Cameron University for $25,000.
After a previous swap was withdrawn two of Vic Michael’s holding companies are exchanging assets. Cedar Cove Broadcasting will receive 88.7 K204GN Cedar Cove, 90.9 K215FM Fort Collins, and 100.7 K264AG Dillon CO, while Mountain Community translators adds 105.3 K287BX Mesa AZ, 103.9 K280EQ Fort Morgan CO, 101.9 K270CM Pueblo CO, 106.3 K292GW Boulder CO, 89.9 K210EC Douglas WY, 97.5 K248CZ Cheyenne WY, and 101.1 K266CC Cheyenne WY. The revised deal adds K292GW, which was not included in the previous.
