Update 4/1: KRRF ended its weekend of stunting and relaunched as “Classic Hits 106.3“.
Focusing on music of the 1960’s through 1980’s, the station is launching with 10,006 songs in a row. Duncan Payton joins the station as PD and will hold an on-air shift as well.
Original Report 3/31: Cumulus Classic Rock “106.3 The Surf” KRRF Oak View, CA has dropped its format and is stunting with a broad mix of music similar to what is currently airing at sister “Love 105” Minneapolis.
KRRF recently completed its move from the Santa Barbara market down to Oxnard/Ventura. The station now operates with 960 watts at 252 meters from a tower in Ventura proper but no longer puts a city-grade signal over Santa Barbara.
KRRF now joins a Cumulus cluster that includes Hot AC “B95.1” KBBY, Country 100.7 KHAY, Rhythmic CHR “103.3 The Vibe” KVYB, and “Sportsradio 1450” KVEN.
A really neat launch would be playing 10,000 different songs in a row..but we know that ain’t happening
