Nielsen Audio has released Day 2 of its monthly four day sweep of ratings in PPM markets.
Today’s releases include Washington DC, Boston, Miami, Seattle, Detroit, Phoenix, Minneapolis, San Diego, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Denver, Baltimore, and St. Louis.

Public News/Talk 88.5 WAMU remains on top in Washington with a 9.7 to 10.2 gain. Hubbard News 103.5 WTOP drops 9.0 to 8.1 to remain in second. Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR slips 8.1 to 7.8. iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH places fourth with a 6.2 to 5.6 slip, while Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.3/92.7” WMMJ/WDCJ rises 4.7 to 4.9.
Most MLB flagship stations saw gains with the start of the season this month. Audacy Sports “106.7 The Fan” WJFK-FM trends up 1.4 – 1.7 – 2.1. But the three current based music stations in the market continue to struggle, iHeartMedia CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT slips 3.6 to 3.1, Audacy Rhythmic CHR 95.5 WPGC drops 2.5 to 2.2, and Radio One Hip Hop 93.9 WKYS dips 2.2 to 2.0. Also trending downward is Radio One Gospel “Praise 104.1” WPRS-FM (2.8 – 2.4 – 2.0).
iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM returns to the Boston lead with a 6.8 to 7.4 gain. Beasley’s “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM holds in second steady at 6.9. Beasley Classic Hits 105.7 WROR drops 7.7 to 6.8 to fall to third. iHeartMedia’s duo of News/Talk 1030 WBZ (6.4 to 6.6) and Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX (6.1 to 5.7) round out the top five.
Audacy Variety Hits “Big 103” WBGB trends up 2.4 – 2.9 – 3.0, while Beasley Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 96.9” WBQT rises 2.2 – 2.6 – 2.9. Despite the fast start of the Red Sox, Audacy Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM was one of the few MLB flagships to not make significant gains as it only rose 3.0 to 3.2.
Cox Media Group retains the top two spots in Miami. Adult R&B “Hot 105” WHQT surges 8.2 to 9.0 to take the lead, while Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ slips 9.1 to 8.3. Audacy AC “101.5 Lite-FM” WLYF rises 6.1 to 6.7. SBS’ Spanish Oldies “Zeta 92.3” WCMQ holds in fourth 5.6 to 6.0, followed by Univision Spanish AC “Amor 107.5” WAMR up 5.5 to 5.7.
Trending up in Miami is Audacy Rhythmic CHR “Power 96” WPOW-FM (1.8 – 2.2 – 2.5), while co-owned “99.9 Kiss Country” WKIS-FM slips 3.2 – 3.0 – 2.4.
The 50th anniversary celebrations of Audacy Rock 99.9 KISW Seattle gives it the Seattle market lead for the first time since May 2018 rising 6.0 to 6.3. Bonneville News/Talk 97.3 KIRO-FM trends downward 7.3 – 6.4 – 6.2 for second. The newfound powerhouse that is AAA 90.3 KEXP continues to grow as it trends up to third 4.9 – 5.3 – 5.7 for yet another station record. Public News/Talk 94.9 KUOW slips to fourth 5.6 to 5.4. iHeartMedia’s combo of Classic Hits 95.7 KJR-FM (steady at 4.8) and Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK (up 4.6 to 4.8) tie for fifth.
The CHR battle in Seattle is all tied up as iHeartMedia’s “Hits 106.1” KBKS rises 3.3 to 4.0, while Hubbard’s “Movin 92.5” KQMV drops 4.4 to 4.0.
iHeartMedia AC “99.9 KEZ” KESZ continues to lead Phoenix with a 6.4 to 7.0 gain. iHeart’s Country 102.5 KNIX is up 5.7 to 6.5. Hubbard Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX slips 5.5 to 4.9. iHeart’s Variety Hits “95.5 The Mountain” KYOT slips 4.8 to 4.6, while sister Conservative Talk 550 KFYI (4.5 to 4.1) and Audacy Classic Hits 94.5 KOOL-FM (4.2 to 4.1) tie for fifth.
Sierra H Broadcasting Classic Hip Hop “101.1 The Bounce” KZCE surges in its first monthly 1.0 to 2.7 after launching on the first day of the survey. Riviera Broadcasting’s “95.1/94.9 The Wow Factor” KOAI continues to trend up 3.0 – 3.3 – 3.5. Riviera Hot AC “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA/KZON also gets a 1.7 to 2.4 boost.
Beasley Classic Rock 94.7 WCSX Detroit surges 5.3 to 6.9 to regain the market lead. Audacy Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC slips 7.2 to 6.7. Beasley Rock 101.1 WRIF is up 5.7 to 6.2 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the station’s largest share since the Summer of 1985 as it too celebrated its 50th anniversary during the survey. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “Mix 92.3” WMXD falls 6.8 to 6.1. Audacy Sports “97.1 The Ticket” WXYT-FM rises 4.9 to 5.2 to place fifth.
Hubbard Hot AC “KS 95” KSTP-FM holds onto its large lead in Minneapolis down 9.3 to 9.1. Public News/Talk 91.1 KNOW-FM holds in second 7.1 to 7.7. iHeartMedia’s combo of Classic Hits “Kool 108” KQQL (6.5 to 6.6) and Sports “100.3 KFAN” KFXN-FM (6.7 to 6.6) tie for third. Audacy News/Talk 830 WCCO jumps up 5.0 to 6.2 for what Huff notes is its largest share since October 2012 perhaps on the heels of the start of the Minnesota Twins season.
Audacy Classic Hits “98.1 Sunny-FM” KXSN remains in the San Diego lead with a 6.3 to 6.6 gain. iHeartMedia CHR “Channel 93.3” KHTS-FM jumps to second 5.1 to 5.9 to tie with Univision’s Regional Mexican “Que Buena 106.5” KLNV (5.7 to 5.9). LM San Diego Rhythmic AC “Magic 92.5” XHRM rises 5.1 to 5.7 to place fourth, with iHeartMedia News/Talk 600 KOGO up 5.4 to 5.5 for fifth.
Two big surges in San Diego as iHeartMedia Classic Rock 101.5 KGB-FM moves 2.9 to 4.5 and Audacy Sports “97.3 The Fan” uses the Padres season start to rise 1.6 to 3.0.
Cox Soft AC 105.5 WDUV remains on top in Tampa, but slips 8.5 to 7.0. Radio Training Network Christian AC “The Joy-FM” WCIE/WJIS moves up to second 5.4 to 6.0. Beasley Classic Hits “Q105” WRBQ falls to third 6.5 to 5.7. Cox Classic Rock “107.3 The Eagle” WXGL places fourth with a 4.9 to 5.5 gain, while Beasley Country 99.5 WQYK moves to fifth 4.4 to 4.7.
Bonneville Country 98.5 KYGO continues to lead Denver with a 6.8 to 6.9 rise. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “103.5 The Fox” rises to second despite holding steady at a 5.8 share. Public News/Talk 90.1 KCFR trends downward 7.1 – 6.1 – 4.9. Bonneville AC 101.1 KOSI is down 5.1 to 4.7 and Audacy Hot AC “Alice 105.9” KALC places fifth 4.3 to 4.4.
Trending downward in Denver are Audacy Classic Rock “99.5 The Mountain” KQMT (5.1 to 4.2) and KSE Media Classic Hits “Kool 105” KXKL (4.7 to 4.2). Public AAA “105.5 The Colorado Sound” KJAC continues to trend up 1.3 to 1.9.
iHeartMedia News/Talk 850/94.1 KOA jumps up 2.2 to 3.4 for its largest share since August 2019 thanks to the return of MLB’s Colorado Rockies and lead-up to the NFL draft.
Radio One Adult R&B “Magic 95.9” WWIN-FM leads Baltimore down 10.0 to 9.7. Sister Hip Hop “92Q” WERQ (6.3 – 6.2) falls into a second place tie with iHeartMedia Country 93.1 WPOC (5.9 – 6.2). iHeartMedia Variety Hits “102.7 Jack-FM” WQSR is fourth up 5.7 to 5.8 and Audacy AC “Today’s 101.9” WLIF holds steady at a 4.9 share.
Audacy Sports “105.7 The Fan” WJZ-FM surges up 3.0 to 4.5, while sister Hot AC “Mix 106.5” WWMX trends up 2.7 – 3.1 – 3.4.
Hubbard’s duo of Classic Rock 94.7 KSHE (12.8 – 12.7) and Alternative “105.7 The Point” KPNT (8.3 to 7.7) remain in the lead in St. Louis. iHeartMedia Classic Hits 103.3 KLOU jumps up to third 7.0 to 7.5, while Hubbard Variety Hits “106.5 The Arch” WARH falls to fourth 8.0 to 7.3. Audacy’s duo of AC 102.5 KEZK (down 6.5 to 5.9) and Adult R&B “96.3 The Lou” WFUN-FM (up 4.9 to 5.9) tie for fifth.
Also getting a return of baseball boost is Audacy News/Talk 1120 KMOX with a 4.0 to 5.3 jump.
