Update 9/27/10: After a few weeks of speculation, both 99.9 WWCT and 101.1 WHPI unveiled their new identities on Sunday evening. Oldies “Hippie Radio” gave way at 9:45pm to Variety Hits “101.1 Jack-FM” with Matchbox 20’s “Unwell” kicking off the new format.
Meanwhile sister 99.9 WWCT officially debuted its AAA format at some point on Sunday evening. Calling itself “Progressive Radio For Central Illinois”, WWCT is built upon the framework of sister 92.9 WEHM Manorville, NY.
Original Post 9/3/10: Michael Rea“™s Advanced Media Properties appears ready to change formats at two of the four stations it recently acquired from Independence Media. Former Modern Rock “99.9 The Buzz“ is currently stunting with a broad mix of music including everything from Frank Sinatra, M.C. Hammer, and The Shins. WWCTFM.com will be the station“™s new online home.
Another of Rea“™s stations is also in line for a change. Oldies “Hippie Radio 101.1“ WHPI will soon be shifting to Variety Hits as Jack1011.com was also registered to Rea last week.
