Following the cyberattack or “unauthorized access to its IT environment” last week, Skyview Network has released the following statement:
Our technical teams and engineering specialists continue to make progress to restore operations and bring services online following the unauthorized access to our IT environment. We are serving our content clients directly to address specific needs and solutions while also coordinating with our network partners and affiliates. We apologize for the disruption we are experiencing and appreciate the industry support and collaboration we have received for programming distribution as well as commercial delivery and schedules.
ABC News sent the following email to affiliates in regards to its operations and plans for Tuesday’s State of the Union Address:
We had hoped to be able to provide you with a sense of when we expect to resume normal operations, but unfortunately, we just don’t know yet. I can assure you it’s not for lack of effort. Our engineering team has been working through the weekend to create workarounds designed to mitigate the impact of this disruption on our affiliates, and we will continue to do so for as long as it takes. We’re also in regular contact with our distribution partner as they work to bring their systems back online.
Please continue to reach out with questions or concerns, and we will do everything in our power to address them. The more we know about the challenges you’re facing, the better we will be able to assist you.
Our top priority right now is showing up for our affiliates. We’re grateful for your partnership, and take the responsibility of delivering the news to your listeners very seriously. We’re currently in full prep mode for tomorrow’s State of the Union address, and you can expect the kind of comprehensive coverage ABC News is known for. Our live, hour-long preview show begins at 8:06pm ET and will be available on ABC 98. Our coverage of the president’s speech begins at 9p ET, and we will remain on the air for the Republican response. Our live anchored coverage will conclude at 10:58:50pm ET. The unanchored feed of the speech will be available on ABC 53. You can find all the details here.
Thank you again for your patience. We’ll continue to provide updates until this issue is resolved.
Original Report 1/31: Skyview Networks has notified its affiliates that some of its programming services are unavailable due to “unauthorized access to its IT environment, resulting in interrupted technical services”.
The issue has affected the delivery of multiple programs and services including both CBS News and ABC News. Skyview has told stations not to reboot their XDS receivers as affiliates have lost their configurations in doing so. CBS News on Monday told affiliates that Skyview was having a technical issue that resulted in limitations in distributing live CBS News content including newscasts and the World News Roundup. They are delivering some news on an alternate channel without tones or cues. Other Skyview systems have also been impacted.
