Translator Report

While much of the translator news had to do with 106.3 in New York last week there was lots more action elsewhere.

Kansas City has more 250 watt translators in the commercial band than any other market and adds another one today. Alpine Broadcasting’s 102.9 K275BQ Richmond, MO signed on Friday afternoon rebroadcasting 1160 KCXL Liberty, MO.

EMF Broadcasting’s 89.5 K208EO Sandia, NM has completed its move to 107.5 where it has begun airing Vanguard Media’s “Real Oldies 1600” KRKE Albuquerque as “Cool 107.5“. The translator covers the northeast portion of Albuquerque.

Radio Power Inc.’s 100.1 W261AX Pittsburgh, PA, which will soon become Urban “WAMO 100” when paired with 660 WPYT has begun testing its signal with a simulcast of 90.5 WDUQ. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the new format should be on the air in early June.

Hope Christian Church of Marlton, NJ’s 97.5 W248AO Baltimore, MD has been granted a Construction Permit to boost power from 8 watts to 250 watts. The signal will cover all of Baltimore city and adjacent towns. When complete, 97.5 will simulcast CBS’ 106.5 WWMX-HD2. No word yet whether Hope Christian Church will be programming 106.5-HD2 or if CBS will place its “Mix 2” Dance format on the translator.

Sunrise Broadcasting has purchased 97.3 W247AW Poughkeepsie, NY for $12,500. The 10 watt translator has begun simulcasting AC “Fox Radio 103.1” WJGK Newburgh, NY.

Following the demise of “Dhoom-FM” 89.3 WDDM Hazlet, 100.7 W264BT Edison, NJ has returned to the air after being dark for a few weeks simulcasting WorldBand Media’s “HumDesi Radio” from 98.7 WRKS-HD2 New York.

106.1 W291CC Sanford, ME is beginning its shift southward to Massachusetts. It’s current CP places the translator west of Portsmouth, NH heading southeast towards Exeter. Northeast Radio Watch reports that its final destination will be on Massachusetts’ Cape Ann where it will rebroadcast 1450 WNBP Newburyport.

Desert West Air Ranchers Corporation 96.7 K244EI Corona de Tucson, AZ has granted a license where it will rebroadcast sister Classic Hits “Fox 98.5” KRDX Vail, AZ.

92.1 W221CG Kennesaw, GA just west of Atlanta has been granted a move to 92.5 with an upgrade from 38 watts to 120 watts. Cumulus is in the process of selling the translator to Immanuel Broadcasting Network where it will simulcast 91.7 WCCV Cartersville, GA.

Main Line Broadcasting’s “True Oldies 800” WCHA Chambersburg, PA and its simulcast partner 1410 WHAG Hagerstown, MD has applied to acquire 96.3 W243CP Chambersburg to rebroadcast its signal.
