Dick Broadcasting Classic Hits “92.3/101.1 The River” in Eastern North Carolina is preparing to break its simulcast.
92.3 WQSL Jacksonville will continue with its current format following the completion of a signal upgrade from a Class C2 to C1 with 100kW/246m. The new signal will better rimshot New Bern and Kinston, while also hitting the adjacent Wilmington market.
That will enable the company to launch a new, yet-to-be disclosed format to launch on 101.1 WQZL Belhaven. That signal rimshots New Bern and Greenville NC.
The 92.3 and 101.1 signals have been mostly married since 2002 with multiple formats including Rhythmic CHR, Adult R&B, Variety Hits, Country, and since 2018 as “The River“. Only from 2010 until 2013 were the signals separated.
The stations have begun running on-air promos for the change, but no time has been disclosed yet.
