TelevisaUnivision flipped Spanish Oldies “Recuerdo 103.9/98.3” KRCD Inglewood/KRCV West Covina CA to Spanish CHR “Latino Mix 103.9/98.3“.
As first indicated in our 7/31 Domain Insight, new KLXM and KLXO call letters will take effect on Wednesday, August 5. The station is described as featuring the biggest global rhythmic pop hits. The station’s lineup will feature TelevisaUnivision’s syndicated shows “El Flow” and “Mixology” along with local personalities to be named.
KRCD/KRCV was the last remaining “Recuerdo” in Univision’s portfolio and will continue as a streaming brand. It registered a mere 1.6 share in the June 2026 Nielsen Audio ratings. The company operates the “Latino Mix” brand in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and San Francisco plus the similarly formatted “Mix 98.3” Miami and “X96.3” New York. The stations feature a current based Reggaeton based music mix.
INSTANT INSIGHT: The door for a change may have been opened by moves at two of Meruelo’s stations in recent months. First Hip Hop “Power 106” KPWR removed the majority of its currents and recurrents and moved to to a gold based presentation to the point it lost its reporting status on the Rhythmic CHR charts. Meruelo then flipped Spanish Hot AC “Cali 93.9” KLLI to Bilingual AC earlier this month.
A move to Spanish Rhythmic could place the stations in closer format competition with SBS’ Spanish CHR “Mega 96.3” KXOL, which share some of the music with the “Latino Mix” brand. It also had a 1.6 share in the June ratings.
