Midwest Announces Sioux Falls Frequency Swap

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
October 16, 2013

Big Country 92.5 KTWB Lite 101.9 KELO-FM Sioux Falls MidwestMidwest Communications will swap the locations of two of its Sioux Falls, SD stations on Monday, October 28.

Country 101.9 KTWB will relocate to 92.5 as “Big Country 92.5” while AC “Lite 92.5” KELO-FM will become “101.9 KELO-FM“.

No other programming changes will affect the stations as they relocate. KELO-FM announces it will continue with its annual shift to Christmas Music on Thanksgiving Day.

The move gives the stronger 100kW Class C signal to the Country format, while downgrading the AC to the 34kW Class C2 signal on 101.9. This is the second major programming shift made by Midwest since it acquired the Sioux Falls cluster from Backyard Broadcasting in July 2012. On March 1 the company moved Classic Hits “Kool 107.9” to 95.7 and began simulcasting News/Talk 1320 KELO on 107.9.

Midwest Communications is introducing exciting changes to two of its Sioux Falls radio stations. Country music “KTWB-FM” and Adult Hits “Lite 92.5 KELO-FM” are switching places on the radio dial beginning Monday October 28th.

KTWB will begin broadcasting on 92.5 as “Big Country 92.5” where the morning show will continue to be hosted by the popular “Chris & Doc Show.”

KELO-FM will drop the “Lite” handle and call 101.9 its new home. Programming will remain the same on both stations. “Listener input showed us that this move would be the best use of our resources” said station Operations Manager Tom Gjerdrum.

“Big Country 92.5” will reach listeners in four states; South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska appealing to country music fans in both rural and urban areas. . “We know how lucky we are that our listeners have welcomed us into their lives. That’s what’s so special about the country music audience, they’re passionate and loyal. This is a chance for even more people to become part of this family” said Doc Murphy, from “The Chris & Doc Show.”

The new 101.9 KELO-FM will continue to serve the Sioux Falls metro and trading area as it has since it signed on the air in 1965. The web site addresses for both stations remain the same; ktwb.com and kelofm.com. To reflect their new dial positions, the new KTWB studio number will be (605) 274-9250 and the new 101.9 KELO-FM studio line will be (605) 336-1019.
