Kerby Confer and Donald Alt’s Forever Media has announced that its has agreed to acquired Country 107.7 WGTY and Sports “ESPN 1320” WGET Gettysburg, PA from Times & News Publishing Company for $4.25 million.
WGTY serves the York, PA market while rimshotting into the Harrisburg and Lancaster, PA and Frederick, MD markets. The seller will retain their Gettysburg Times newspaper. The sale was brokered by Michael J. Bergner of Bergner & Co. This is the second acquisition by Forever in recent weeks following their purchase of Dix Communications’ Cumberland, MD cluster last month.
Off-hand, I think that Forever won’t subscribe to the Nielsen Audio ratings for York any longer than it needs to–and Times & News and Cumulus appear to be the market’s only current subscribers.
Great Country 107.7 will become Froggy 107.7 just like every other Forever Country station.
