Maine Public Classical Adds Portland Translator
Maine Public Broadcasting’s new Maine Public Classical Network has acquired 104.1 W281AC Portland from the University of Southern Maine.
W281AC had served as a downtown Portland booster for 90.9 WMPG Gorham, but will now transition to the Classical network fed by 90.1 WMEA-HD2 Portland sometime this week. MPBN will pay $251,000 cash and $34,840 in underwriting for the translator.
Maine Public Classical launched earlier this month on on 91.5 WFYB Freyburg, 99.7 W259BY Waterville, 106.1 W291CO Bangor and the HD2s of all the primary MPBN Public News/Talk stations across the state. In Portland it will give a direct competitor to Binnie Media’s “W-Bach” 106.9 Thomaston/96.9 W245AA Portland.
