Original Report 5/25: iHeartMedia Christian AC “Up 103.7” W279AQ Mascoutah IL/KLOU-HD2 St. Louis has dropped its format and is stunting with songs featuring the word “Magic“.
Among the songs heard are Bruno Mars “24K Magic”, Heart “Magic Man”, Steppenwolf “Magic Carpet Ride”, Robin Thicke “Magic”, and Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake “Love Sex Magic”.
The “Majic” brand has a long history in St. Louis. “Majic 108” 107.7 KMJM was the Urban leader in the market through the 1980s and early 1990s. After being acquired by Jacor, it was moved to 104.9 in 1997 and flipped to Urban AC. In 2012 iHeart moved the Majic brand and KMJM calls to 100.3 where the name would last until a flip to Classic Hip-Hop (and then Urban) in November 2014. With Urban One’s “95.5 The Lou” WFUN-FM residing near the top of the St. Louis ratings pack, it looks as though iHeart is preparing to relaunch the “Majic” brand to knock it down a bit.
