Majic Returns To St. Louis

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
May 26, 2017

Majic 103.7 KLOU-HD2 St. Louis UpAs expected, iHeartMedia has relaunched the Urban AC “Majic” brand on W279AQ Mascoutah IL/KLOU-HD2 St. Louis.

Launching with 10,000 songs in a row, “Majic 103.7” will feature artists such as Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Maxwell and Janet Jackson.

iHeartMedia St. Louis announced today the debut of the new Majic 103.7, Today’s R&B and Throwbacks. The station will kick off today at 10:37 a.m. with 10,000 songs in a row commercial-free from the biggest names in R&B.

Majic 103.7 will broadcast hit music from artists such as Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Maxwell and Janet Jackson. A full programming line- up will be announced at a later date.

“The Majic brand is no stranger to St. Louis and has been iconic in the market since 1979,” said A.J., Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia St. Louis. “With the launch of the new Majic 103.7, we are resurrecting over 35 years of enriching lives and serving the St. Louis community.”

“The heritage of the Majic 103.7 radio brand is like no other and I am honored to be a part of bringing it back to the St. Louis community,” said Derrick Martin, Region President for iHeartMedia St. Louis. “It’s also a privilege to welcome back Majic’s core group of fans and advertisers, and we look forward to engaging new ones as well.”
iHeartMedia is a leading media outlet in the St. Louis market and its content is available across multiple platforms, including its broadcast stations; online via its branded digital sites; mobile; and social, with nationwide listening through iHeartRadio, the all-in-one streaming music and live radio service – with its more than a billion downloads and 100 million registered users.

Original Report 5/25: iHeartMedia Christian AC “Up 103.7” W279AQ Mascoutah IL/KLOU-HD2 St. Louis has dropped its format and is stunting with songs featuring the word “Magic“.

Among the songs heard are Bruno Mars “24K Magic”, Heart “Magic Man”, Steppenwolf “Magic Carpet Ride”, Robin Thicke “Magic”, and Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake “Love Sex Magic”.

The “Majic” brand has a long history in St. Louis. “Majic 108” 107.7 KMJM was the Urban leader in the market through the 1980s and early 1990s. After being acquired by Jacor, it was moved to 104.9 in 1997 and flipped to Urban AC. In 2012 iHeart moved the Majic brand and KMJM calls to 100.3 where the name would last until a flip to Classic Hip-Hop (and then Urban) in November 2014. With Urban One’s “95.5 The Lou” WFUN-FM residing near the top of the St. Louis ratings pack, it looks as though iHeart is preparing to relaunch the “Majic” brand to knock it down a bit.
