97.9 The Beat KBFB Dallas Rickey Smiley Veda LocaUrban One Urban “97.9 The Beat” KBFB Dallas has dropped the syndicated Rickey Smiley morning show and is launching a new local morning show in its place.

The new show will be led by current afternoon host Veda Loca, who will be accompanied by current night host J-Kruz, DJ Kayotic who will serve as producer and mixer, and Jazzi Black. The new show will debut on Monday, November 27 and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Smiley “has supported the move and actually will officially pass the mic to Veda.” His show began on KBFB in 2004 and entered syndication in 2008. It is now based at Urban One’s “Hot 107.9” WHTA Atlanta. Loca began her career as part of Smiley’s show.
