Details:
Leatherman Broadcasting, Inc./KCHI is seeking a responsible, experienced individual for a one-person, hands-on position as News Director for a small market station.

Primary Responsibilities
• Gather, research, write, and report local news for on-air broadcasts:
o Conduct interviews and develop original local news stories
o Watch emergency, government, and community activity for newsworthy information
o Attend and report on local meetings and other important happenings as needed
o Monitor state and national sources for stories relevant to local listeners
• Produce and anchor regular local newscasts
• Update news content to the station website and social media
• Work independently while communicating effectively with station manager and other staff
• Prepare and file quarterly reports with the FCC
• Provide severe weather coverage; be able to read radar and report as it happens
• Perform other duties as directed by management

Qualifications
 Degree or experience in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or a related field
 Solid writing, interview, and communication skills/strong attention to accuracy and detail
 Basic computer, audio editing, and digital media skills
 A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
 Recent graduates/candidates with media experience are encouraged to apply
