Walton Stations of New Mexico has doubled its Country output in Ruidoso NM.
Walton first shifted Country “93.5 The West” KWES-FM Ruidoso to Classic Country focusing on music from the 1960s through 80s. To fill the newer hole Walton has flipped Spanish Adult Hits “Juan 94.7” 1450 KWES/94.7 K234AQ Ruidoso to “Bear Country 94.7“.
Station Manager Juanita Jones told The Ruidoso News, “The decision to change formats came with plenty of research. We know that the average age demographic in Lincoln County is about 50 years, and we know that a very high percentage of radio listeners prefer country music in this market. KWES listeners hear country music ranging from the 1960s all the way to the ‘80s. And now Bear Country offers country music from the ‘80s all the way to the current play list. This way we have it all covered in the formats. That’s good for our listeners, and good for our advertisers who want to reach the most potential local customers.”
Great Mix 1960s through the 80s
