Former 107.9 KMLE Phoenix morning host Chris Matthews is joining iHeartMedia Country “92.5 The Bull” KBEB Sacramento as Program Director/Afternoon Host.
Matthews fills the opening created by Bryan ‘B-Dub’ Washington’s move to “106.7 The Bull” KWBL Denver last month, although he will continue to voicetrack nights to KBEB. He exited mornings at KMLE in January to “spend more time with his family”. Prior to moving to mornings in 2016, he served as APD/MD at KMLE and has also served in those duties for KAWO Boise and as Director of Marketing for Cumulus Tucson.
iHeartMedia Sacramento announced today that Chris Matthews has been named Program Director and Afternoon Drive Host for 92.5 The Bull, No. 1 for New Country in Sacramento, effective March 12. iHeartMedia Sacramento has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing six stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. In his new role, Matthews will be responsible for the day-to-day programming operations of 92.5 The Bull. He will work closely with on-air personalities and sales to oversee the station’s on-air content, digital footprint and music programming.
“We were looking for a creative thinker to take ownership and grow the Bull brand,” said Curtiss Johnson, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “Someone who is a PD and entertainer with deep roots in the Country community. Chris Mathews is that guy. I have no doubt he will put 92.5 The Bull front and center in the minds of Sacramento Country fans.”
Matthews joins 92.5 The Bull from KMLE-FM in Phoenix, where he served as Assistant Program Director, Music Director, Morning Show Host and Afternoon Drive Host. He has also worked as Director of Marketing and Promotions for Cumulus Communications in Tucson.
“I am thrilled to get to work with the amazing team at iHeartMedia Sacramento,” said Matthews. “There is a two ton buckin’ Bull ready to dominate the Sacramento airwaves and I can’t wait to open the chute!”
