After launching AAA “95.7 That Station” 1550 WCLY/95.7 W239CK Raleigh on May 1 with a name the station contest, Capitol Broadcasting has settled on retaining the placeholder name permanently.
With several hundred submissions overwhelmingly choosing to keep the placeholder name permanently, Dee Dee Black was selected as the winner of a $1,000 prize the charity of their choosing with Cause For Paws of North Carolina being the recipient.
On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, That Station got a permanent name, making the big announcement about the winning moniker and charity. When the station launched in May, 95.7 FM That Station announced a contest by which listeners could submit a name for the radio station. The winner would receive $1,000 to donate to their local charity of his/her choice.
By far, the several hundred submissions leaned overwhelmingly to keep the temporary placeholder “That Station” for the name. Station staffers then put the names of all the folks who submitted keeping the name “That Station” and drew a winner for the donation. Dee Dee Black won, having the $1,000 prize donated to Cause For Paws of North Carolina.
So the name stands! Tune in to 95.7 FM That Station for a variety of Americana, Roots, Country, Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Rhythm & Blues.
I really LOVE “That Station” outta Raleigh!!! I heard The Decemberists “Why We Fight” and I haven’t heard that song in a while. I’m not even in Raleigh, rather I’m in L.A. Listening in my car alongside 88.5 KCSN/KSBR and The Current 89.3 HD2
