After a few days of stunting with patriotic music, Rocking M Media launched Rhythmic Oldies “92.7 The Blast” KWME Wellington/Wichita KS at 12pm today.
Positioned as the “Rhythm of River City”, KWME is playing rhythmic leaning songs mostly from the 1980s through early 2000s but stretching further in either direction. The station lists core artists as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Prince, TLC, Vanilla Ice, Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez.
Overseeing the new format on KWME is Tommy Castor, who joined Rocking M in March as GM/PD for KWME and sister AC “100.3 The Wave” 1130 KLEY/100.3 K262CQ Wellington after exiting his position as Program Director at iHeartMedia CHR “Channel 96.3” KZCH Derby/Wichita.
Castor will also host afternoons on the station, with the rest of the on-air lineup including Marco Benitez in mornings and KLEY morning host Caitlin Geer pulling double-duty in middays.
Rocking M Media, LLC announced today the launch of the New 92.7 The Blast-The Rhythm of River City in the Wichita, Kansas market. 92.7 The Blast plays all the great party songs you know and love, from artists like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Prince, TLC, Vanilla Ice, Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez and so many more.

92.7 The Blast is programmed by Tommy Castor, who also serves as the General Manager for Rocking M Media’s radio stations in Wellington and Winfield, Kansas. Castor added, “The New 92.7 The Blast fills a void in the Wichita radio landscape. These are all the awesome party songs you grew up listening to at a school dance, a wedding reception or even just driving down the street. We know that this new radio station for the Wichita area will quickly find a strong and loyal audience.”
Beginning on Monday, July 9th, the on-air lineup for 92.7 The Blast will debut. Morning drive will be anchored by long time Wichita radio personality Marco Benitez who will host The Marco Show each weekday morning. Caitlin Geer, who also hosts mornings on sister KLEY AM/FM in Wellington, Kansas, will handle middays, and Castor will round out the on-air lineup in afternoon drive.
Original Report 7/2: Rocking M Media Classic Hits 92.7 KWME Wellington/Wichita KS has pulled the plug on its format and is in stunt mode through the Independence Day holiday.
Currently playing patriotic music as “92.7 The Patriot“, the move takes KWME (which rimshots Wichita from the south) out of direct format competition with Entercom’s 103.7 KEYN.
We reported on a possible new brand name for KWME in our most recent Domain Insight report, however no word yet on what the new format will be.
