Following the relaunch of 102.7 WNEW New York last week, pieces of the on-air puzzle have begun to be revealed.
Social media posting indicate that Karen Carson remains in mornings solo following the exit of co-host Jeffrey Jameson with the format change. Midday host Christine Richie has moved to nights from 7pm-12am. Mike Adam remains in afternoons from 3-7pm.
Former night host Cane Peterson is moving across the hall to mornings at Alternative “Alt 92.3” WNYL. The move marks a return to the 92.3 frequency as he previous hosted nights and afternoons at the station during its “K-Rock” heyday along with Lee ‘Crazie Cabbie’ Mroszak. Peterson also has worked at VH-1, multiple outlets in the Minneapolis market and had been with WNEW since 2014 with stints in mornings, afternoons, and nights.
New York Public Radio’s 93.9 WNYC-FM New York has announced that former MTV News host and writer Alison Stewart will join the station this fall to host a new 12-2pm show.
Best known for her time with MTV, Stewart currently serves as a contributing editor with The Atlantic LIVE and a contributor to PBS NewsHour. She has also spent time at ABC, MSNBC, PBS, and NPR.
Stewart fills the opening created by last year’s termination of Leonard Lopate following allegations of inappropriate conduct. Lopate has since launched a new show on Pacifica’s 99.5 WBAI.
Cox Media Group Urban AC “Hot 105” WHQT Miami will debut Big Lip & Shelby Rushin in afternoons on Monday, July 30.
Alex ‘Big Lip’ Chisholm previously was part of the morning show at sister 99.1 WEDR and “Power 96” WPOW-FM. He most recently hosted mornings at Sun Broadcasting’s “Fly 98.5” WFFY Fort Myers. Shelby Rushin moves across the hall from middays at WEDR.
