The impending move of Ben Shapiro to afternoons on Westwood One will include a live clearance on Cumulus Media’s 890 WLS Chicago.
WLS has announced that Shapiro will air from 2-5pm central starting January 7. That will include airing Shapiro’s daily podcast from 2-3pm followed by the live radio show. He will fill the timeslot being vacated by Steve Dahl at the end of the year.
WLS is one of the six stations that began airing Shapiro’s podcast as a daily show last April, where it currently runs from 9-10pm.
CUMULUS MEDIA announces that it is bringing Westwood One nationally syndicated talk radio program The Ben Shapiro Show to WLS-AM 890 afternoons. The Ben Shapiro Show will move from its current 9pm-10pm slot on WLS-AM 890 to a new three-hour position weekdays from 2pm-5pm Central on January 7, 2019. This new timeslot includes two LIVE hours of radio programming and one hour of the Ben Shapiro podcast airing on the radio.
The Ben Shapiro Show is a high-energy, action-packed program as host and podcast-to-broadcast innovator Ben Shapiro, editor-in-chief of DailyWire.com, covers America’s most powerful political personalities, brutally breaking down the culture, while never giving an inch. The live radio show extension was recently announced on the heels of the success of syndicating The Ben Shapiro Show, the top conservative podcast in the nation in 60 U.S. markets.
Marv Nyren, Vice President/Market Manager, CUMULUS MEDIA-Chicago, said: “When the opportunity originally came up to be the first station in Chicago to carry The Ben Shapiro Show, we jumped on it. With the incredible success we’ve experienced in a short period of time, moving Ben into a prime daypart is the perfect addition to our star-studded lineup.”
Shapiro said: “I couldn’t be more excited to join the WLS lineup for three hours per day. My parents grew up in Chicago; I’m personally a diehard White Sox fan (sorry, Cubbies!). The eyes of the nation are constantly on Chicago, and for good reason. I can’t wait to bring conservatism to the Windy City.”
I almost missed this line from Ben… “I can’t wait to bring conservatism to the Windy City.”
LOL Ben, as if Chris Plante, Rush, Mark Levin, John Bachelor and Red Eye Radio didn’t already exist on the station before you came on board.
