Kevin ‘Drex’ Bucher is out after ten months in mornings at Entercom CHR “B96” WBBM-FM Chicago.
In an internal memo by WBBM-FM VP/Programming Todd Cavanah, the station announced that producer Gabe Ramirez will rise to co-host alongside remaining co-host Nina Hajian. Ramirez was the lone holdover from the previous morning show hosted by Jamar ‘J Niice’ McNeil and ‘Showbiz Shelly’ Menaker. Hajian joined WBBM-FM after previously co-hosting mornings at “92.3 Amp Radio” WBMP New York until its November 2017 flip to Alternative.
Today was the last day for Drex on the B96 Morning Show. He will remain a friend to many of us and I want to thank him for being a great teammate and true professional in every sense of the word.
During the past 10 months, Gabe and Nina have developed not only a friendship off the air but a great deal of chemistry with each other and the audience on air, at our Bashes, their appearances and their social media platforms.
We see an enormous potential with both of these rising stars to achieve our goals on B96 for mornings. Gabe and Nina will take over mornings immediately and we are confident that their engagement with each other and the listeners will be a huge success.
Drex joined WBBM-FM last April after a previous run hosting mornings at “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC from 2003-2010 after a long run in mornings at 102.7 KTFM San Antonio. After departing Kiss-FM he hosted a nighttime talkshow on Cumulus News/Talk 810 KGO San Francisco from February 2015 until August 2016.
Now, the station needs to change its hideous logo!
Not sure why Entercom thought a guy who earned mediocre ratings at 103.5 could do any better at 96.3.
