Entercom Sports “97.3 The Fan” KWFN San Diego has made a morning show change as Dan Sileo exits the station but not the company and ‘Coach’ John Kentera moves into his morning slot.
Sileo joined what became KWFN to host middays at the short-lived Talk/Rock “97.3 The Machine” and then moved to mornings after its abrupt flip to Sports last April. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that his exit was tied to backlash from listeners about Sileo’s involvement in the station’s San Diego Padres “Friar Fridays” programming due to previous assurances from Entercom that Sileo would not be involved in the station’s direct coverage of the franchise.
Sileo also hosts a weekend show for Entercom’s 93.7 WEEI-FM Boston which will continue.
Kentera had been anchoring the pre and postgame coverage of the Padres as well as a weekly high school sports show for KWFN. He is a longtime Sports host and business manager in the San Diego region with runs at “Xtra 690” XETRA and “Mighty 1090” XEPRS from 1987-2015.
