First Media Radio has sold its seven stations along the North Carolina and Virginia border to Byrne Acquisition Group for $3.4 million.
With an LMA set to take place today, Byrne will acquire Classic Hits “Magic 97.9” WTRG Gaston NC, Variety Hits “Earl 98.3” WDLZ Murfreesboro NC, Urban “99.5 Jamz” WYTT Emporia VA, Country “Maverick 102.3” WPTM Roanoke Rapids, Variety Hits “107.7 Lake-FM” WWDW Alberta VA, “Sports Radio 1400” 1080 WWDR Murfreesboro/1400 WSMY Weldon and the Construction Permits for 97.1 W246DQ Weldon and 105.9 W290DE Murfreesboro. The company owns five stations in South Carolina split between Clemson and Myrtle Beach as well as a television station in Janesville WI.
Alex Kolobielski led First Media retains its five stations in the nearby Rocky Mount NC market and an AM in Lexington VA. The company has been slowly selling off its assets over the past five years as it has shed clusters in Du Bois, Lewistown and State College PA and Easton MD.
