iHeartMedia CHR “G105” 105.1 WDCG Durham/Raleigh NC has begun its rebuilding following the exits of Chris Edge and Bob Dumas with the appointment of Alex Mac as APD/4-9pm host.
Mac joins WDCG from Alternative “Alt 106.3” KDXA Ankeny/Des Moines where he served as APD/MD/afternoon host while tracking nights at “Alt 104.9” KLLT Columbia IL/St. Louis. He joined those stations in October 2017 from the night host position at then sister station “XL 102.1” WRXL Richmond VA and was promoted to APD at KDXY this past March.
He fills the position held by Steve Wazz until he moved to mornings at Country 99.5 WGAR Cleveland in October 2018. Wazz has continued to track back to Raleigh.
iHeartMedia announced today that Alex Mac has been named Afternoon Show Host and Assistant Program Director for G105, Raleigh’s #1 Hit Music Station, effective October 1. Mac will broadcast weekday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
As afternoon show host, Mac will discuss the latest entertainment news and trends in pop culture as well as current and upcoming Raleigh/Durham events. He will also assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the station’s music, on-air personalities, programming, promotions and digital operations as Assistant Program Director. Mac will report to A.J., Region Senior Vice President for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region.
“Alex’s passion for music and entertainment is like no other,” said A.J. “I look forward to him joining the team and I am thrilled about what he will bring to the Raleigh community as we build the next chapter of G105.”
Mac most recently was the afternoon show host and assistant program director at iHeartMedia Des Moines’ ALT 106.3 and also served as an on-air personality for ALT 104.9 in St. Louis and WRXL in Richmond, Va.
“I’m very excited to join the iHeartMedia team in Raleigh – to help lead the iconic, market-leading G105 brand is an incredible opportunity,” said Mac. “I also can’t wait to catch up each weekday afternoon with our listeners and invite them to be a bigger part of G105. We’re on-air, on social media and on the streets of Raleigh as a real part of the community.”
