David & Barbara Harms will debut their “Worship 24/7” Contemporary Worship format on 93.7 KURT Prineville/Bend OR on or around Friday, November 1 following the Harms’ purchase of the station for an undisclosed amount.
Currently owned by Rubin Broadcasting with an Alternative format as “Radio Kurt“, the Harms’ H&H Broadcasting will begin operating KURT via LMA on November 1. The “Worship 24/7” brand debuted as a webcaster this past summer with the intent of moving into broadcast operations. Scott Michaels, who previously programmed KDNW Duluth from 2009-2017 and KWPZ Bellingham WA before that, oversees all operations of the brand and continues as a Fundraising Strategist for David Harms’ i58:10 Media.
H&H Broadcasting – a newly formed LLC with David & Barbara Harms as majority owners – is pleased to announce that terms have been reached to acquire KURT, 93.7 FM, Prineville, Oregon which also serves the Central Oregon cities of Bend, Redmond, Madras and Sisters. Upon completion of the sale, KURT-FM will be the flagship radio station for broadcasting “Worship 24/7.”
Since launching in late June as a streaming only station, Worship 24/7 has quickly established a loyal base audience and has been heard by over 14,000 people in 81 countries. After just three months of streaming, listener support is allowing Worship 24/7 to operate in the black.
“From the beginning Worship 24/7 was designed to serve a small but loyal niche. We don’t necessarily expect to be the most listened to Christian station in a market, but we do expect to facilitate incredible ministry for an audience that will financially support it. Our business model is sound and keeps overhead low. To operate in the black after only three months shows that our premise was correct,” says David Harms. “Hopefully this is the first of many stations, but we will build this network from the stream up rather than be a radio station that also streams,” added Harms.
With network studios in Wilsonville, Oregon, Worship 24/7 features long sets of worship music from artists like Hillsong, Elevation Worship, Bethel Music, Pat Barrett and Phil Wickham. Worship Hosts facilitate the listening experience and include radio veterans Lisa Williams, Christina James and Sam Kelly. Operations are handled by Scott Michaels. David Harms remains President of i58:10 Media, a fundraising company also headquartered in Wilsonville, Oregon.
With a short term LMA in place, Worship 24/7 will begin broadcasting on 93.7 FM on November 1, 2019 or shortly thereafter.
