A month after revising its midday and evening lineups, Nexstar News/Talk 720 WGN Chicago is making a morning show change to start 2020.
Bob Sirott will return to WGN to anchor mornings starting January 6 as Steve Cochran exited following today’s show according to reports from Robert Feder. Cochran was in his second tour with WGN hosting mornings since September 2013 after hosting in early afternoons and afternoon drive between 2000 and 2010. Cochran has also worked at 560 WIND, 1000 WLUP, 97.9 WLUP-FM, 100.3 WPNT and 105.9 WCKG in Chicago and in multiple markets across the country including a brief run in mornings at CHR “Z100” WHTZ New York.
This marks Sirott’s third term at WGN as he previously hosted “The Noon Show” from 2007-2010 and then co-hosted middays with his wife Marianne Murciano from September 2013 until 2015. Sirott and Murciano would later spend 2017 as late morning hosts at Cumulus Media’s 890 WLS. His long resume in Chicago media also includes seven years hosting afternoons at Top 40 powerhouse WLS in the 1970’s and television news anchoring at WBBM-TV, WMAQ-TV, WTTW, and WFLD.
To most folks outside of the Chicago area (including myself), Mr. Sirott may still be best-remembered as a correspondent for CBS’s “West 57th” in the ’80s. (The show’s Edd Kalehoff-composed theme is going through my head right now.)
