mediaBrew Communications has launched Soft Oldies “106.1 The Sound” W291CJ/WFXD-HD4 Marquette MI.
Listing core artists as including The Beatles, Chicago, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran, Billy Joel, the station claims its music will “focus on bringing back the feelings listeners first felt when hearing a song rather than its chart position.”
The translator has only operated seasonally the past few years as Christmas Music “Gift 106“. It had been stunting for a few weeks with a heartbeat sound effect prior to Monday’s format launch.
The new format will flank sister AC “Sunny 101.9” WKQS-FM and Oldies “97.5 GTO” W248BU against Armada Media’s Classic Hits “100.3 The Point” WUPT and Sovreign Communications’ Oldies 99.5 WNGE.
mediaBrew Communications launches the all new 106.1 The Sound today, Monday, March 2, 2020. The brand new station brings an addition to Marquette County radio that will take you back!
The station is a soft adult contemporary format, branded as a place to “rediscover your favorite songs you haven’t heard in decades.” The music will focus on bringing back the feelings listeners first felt when hearing a song rather than it’s chart position.
Core artists to be heard on the station include The Beatles, Chicago, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran, and Billy Joel.
Listeners can hear the all new sound on their radio dials at 106.1 FM.
The brand new website features a demo track list and 24/7/365 web streaming for those outside the frequency range. Learn more about 106.1 The Sound on the official station website, 1061thesound.com.

106.1 FM W291CJ isn’t relaying WFXD-HD4, it is relaying 101.9 WKQS-FM-HD4.
The reason why is because 103.3 FM WFXD doesn’t broadcast in HD, only 101.9 WKQS-FM does.
