Educational Media Foundation has applied to relocate its newly acquired 107.3 WKVB Westborough/Boston.
The former WAAF will move from the WUTF-TV tower where it was the final occupant to the Hudson MA tower utilized by four television stations. The move east will see WKVB downgrade from a Class B to B1 with 2.1kW/321m.
WKVB was recently granted CP’s for a trio of boosters to enhance its coverage in Boston proper. WKVB-1 Boston will operate with 1.5 watts/242m from the John Hancock Tower downtown, WKVB-2 Lexington will operate with 190w/106m, and WKVB-3 Waltham with 265w/118m. The three boosters will operate at locations where Northeast Broadcasting AAA “92.5 The River” WXRV Andover and Cumulus Media Hot AC 104.5 WXLO Fitchburg have previously established boosters.
FCC Actions
After affirming the deletions of William Zawila’s 100.1 KNGS Coalinga, the Estate of HL Charles’ 102.1 KZPE Ford City and the Estate of Linda Ware’s 103.1 KZPO Lindsay CA in late December over misrepresentation to the FCC, the two other licenses associated in the proceedings have been deleted.
Avenal Educational Services’ 106.9 KAAX Avenal and Central Valley Educational Services’ 94.7 KYAF Firebaugh CA were deleted due to their licensees not being incorporated prior to the licenses being granted. The non-commercial stations applied for CPs in 1988 and 1989, but were not incorporated until 1999 and 2001 respectively. That should have made both applications unqualified and dismissed back then.
1520 Radio Asia’s 1520 WTRI Brunswick MD has been issued a Notice of Violation for operating well past its authorized sign-off time as a daytime-only license.
