Throwback Brands is moving its syndication advertising representation from Sun Broadcast Group to AdLarge Media effective January 1, 2021.
The deal includes the nightly “Throwback Nation Radio” 80s/90s Classic Hits show hosted by Tony Lorino with a Sunday edition hosted by Danny Hustle and the launch of a new weekly “Throwback 2K” hosted by Chris Cruise that will debut in January.
The new “Throwback 2K” is described as “America’s first syndicated weekend show highlighting the early hits of the new millennium” featuring artists such as Beyonce, *NSync, Britney Spears, Fall Out Boy, and Nelly targeted at Hot AC and CHRs. Host Chris Cruise previously has hosted mornings at “98.7 Amp Radio” WDZH Detroit and “103.5 Kiss-FM” KSAS-FM Boise as well as nights at 94.1 KMPS Seattle, afternoons at “104.3 Wow Country” KAWO Boise and stops in Flint and Fort Wayne.
Throwback™ Brands has announced a new partnership with AdLarge Media for ad sales of Throwback Nation Radio™, which features hits of the 80s and 90s and is syndicated on more than 40 radio stations. The deal is effective January 1, 2021. Throwback™ 2K, America’s first syndicated weekend show highlighting the early hits of the new millennium, will launch on January 1, hosted by broadcast and multimedia pro Chris Cruise.
“The two primary goals at Throwback Brands are simple: provide the best quality content we can for broadcasters of all sizes, and provide the best customer service experience we can to make our affiliates’ jobs easier,” said Tony Lorino, Chief Executive Officer of Throwback Brands. “It was easy to see that AdLarge is the company that will do that for us in 2021 and beyond. Frank DeSantis and his team are top notch. With them as our partners, the sky is the limit for us to be able to help our affiliates.”
“We have watched Throwback Nation grow exponentially over the past few years, and we’re delighted that Tony has chosen to bring Throwback Nation to AdLarge,” said DeSantis, Senior Vice President of Business Development for AdLarge Media. “Tony has a loyal and engaged audience that connects with him and the music he plays. We’re looking forward to the launch of Throwback 2K and offering our advertisers access to the listeners of both shows.”
“The early 2000s are untouchable when it comes to hit music,” said Cruise. “There are so many good songs that the audience still loves, that aren’t in regular rotation anymore. That’s why we’re here: to give listeners a taste of those songs again, and to talk about Mean Girls… I mean, you have to have balance.”
“With big hits that audiences love from artists like Beyonce, *NSync, Britney Spears, Fall Out Boy, Nelly, and many more, Throwback™ 2K is a perfect fit for Hot AC and CHR stations to energize weekend nights, or as a ‘Sunday Funday’ feature to help their brands stand out in dayparts where they do not have the local staffing to do so,” commented Lorino.
“When we began developing the concept of Throwback 2K, this show screamed for a host like Chris,” Lorino added. “He lives the music, the lifestyle, and connects with the young adult audience that craves a show like this. And he laughs every time I say, ‘you go, Glen Coco,’ so you know, he knows 2K.”
Cruise’s previous experience includes hosting mornings at 98.7 AMP Radio (WDZH-FM) in Detroit, 103.5 KISS FM (KSAS-FM) in Boise, Nights at 94.1 KMPS in Seattle, and several other on-air and digital brands.
Throwback™ Brands produces Throwback Nation Radio™ (TNR) and Throwback™ 2K (T2K). TNR is hosted by Tony Lorino Monday-Saturday and Danny Hustle on Sunday. The show launched in October 2018.
Throwback 2K will premiere in syndication with a free sample for any interested stations on New Year’s Eve and air weekends starting in January 2021.
