Andy Chanley Moves From KCSN Los Angeles To WXRT Chicago

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
February 21, 2024

Andy Chanley 93.1 WXRT Chicago 88.5 The Socal Sound KCSNAAA “88.5 The SoCal Sound” KCSN/KSBR Los Angeles afternoon host Andy Chanley is joining Audacy AAA 93.1 WXRT Chicago as Music Director and afternoon host.

An Indiana native, Chanley began his career at WKHY Lafayette and WRZX Indianapolis before relocating to Los Angeles in 1997 with stints at Alternative “Y107” KLYY and AAA “Channel 103.1” KACD/KBCD before joining Classic Rock “100.3 The Sound” KSWD in 2008 through its sign-off in 2017 as the first and last voice heard on the station with stints in afternoons and mornings prior to joining KCSN/KSBR in 2018. He also spent three years as Director of Content Production for Audio AI startup Super Hi-Fi.

“Andy Chanley is one of the most respected in the business and will be a tremendous addition to the XRT team,” said Laura Duncan, Brand Manager, 93XRT. “His passion for music and reverence for WXRT, the on-air team, and the city of Chicago makes Andy the perfect fit.”

“As an Indiana kid, being in Chicago was always thrilling — partly because I could hear bands like R.E.M., Big Star and Velvet Underground on FM radio for the first time,” said Chanley. “Even before I got into radio, XRT was the gold standard to me, and that opinion has never faded. I know what XRT means to folks here and around the world, and I’m honored to finally be a part of it. I can’t wait to get back to my friends and family!”

He also told KCSN/KSBR listeners this morning, “However much you think this station has meant to me, it’s meant more. Listeners often tell us that The SoCal Sound has seen them through tough times like the pandemic. But, actually, this station and these listeners saw me through the pandemic. They saw me through stage-three cancer. They saw me through the last six years of my life and for that, I am forever grateful,” and then added, “I am so proud of what this team has accomplished in the last six years,” Chanley said. “I’ll miss them terribly, and the only thing that makes leaving easier is knowing that this station is in the best shape it’s ever been.”

With the addition of Chanley to the lineup, current afternoon host Ryan Arnold will move to nights from 7pm-12am and evening host Emma Mac slides to weekends.
