As it states on the station’s Facebook page, “101.9 The End is back! We made a mistake… and we’re sorry!” Citadel returned Gen X Hits “101.9 Utah” back to Alternative “101.9 The End” at 3pm today.
The station had only flipped from Alternative to the 90’s oriented Gen X format on April 21 giving the format a life span of exactly eight months. Expectations in the market are that Jimmy Chunga, who had hosted mornings on The End from its debut in 1996 will be returning to the station.
Here’s an early sample hour of the station from 3:15 to 4:15pm MST today:
Green Day – Holiday
Weezer – Troublemaker
Eve 6 – Inside Out
Dirty Heads – Lay Me Down
All American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret
Airborne Toxic Event – Sometime Around Midnight
Dead Or Alive – You Spin Me Round
Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody
Foo Fighters – All My Life
Brandon Flowers – Crossfire
Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California
Franz Ferdinand – No You Girls
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition
Moby & Gwen Stefani – Southside
Finger Eleven – Paralyzer
Hopefully they’ll wise up and bring back some of the better on-air staff too. The Gen X format sucked. The DJ’s (Grant Ruby, especially) were one of the best things about The End.
