The only station in Des Moines targeting Black audiences will soon be going away as Minority Communications has agreed to sell Adult R&B “K-Jam” 89.3 KJMC Des Moines to the American Family Association.
AFA will pay $1.125 million for the 7.1kW/61m Class C3 signal. The deal will bring to an end to the Des Moines market’s only station featuring R&B and Gospel programming on Sundays. KJMC also features Reach Media’s Rickey Smiley Morning Show and D.L. Hughley in afternoons.
American Family Association operates the Christian Preaching “AFA Radio” that is currently heard on stations in 32 states including five other stations in Iowa.
